Meet Allen, our adaptability practitioner

A certified prosthetist and global trainer working at the intersection of human mobility, technical craft, and real-world complexity.

Allen brings more than three decades of experience in prosthetics, orthotics, and physical rehabilitation across the U.S., Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Europe. His work is deeply practical and rigorously technical — grounded in the belief that adaptability isn’t abstract, it’s built, trained, and practiced in real bodies, real systems, and real conditions.

As an ABC Certified Prosthetist, Allen has worked extensively in upper-and lower-limb prosthetics, supporting clinicians and rehabilitation teams across a wide range of settings — from highly resourced clinical settings to post-disaster and humanitarian contexts. He is known for translating complex technologies into usable, durable solutions that meet people where they are.

Beyond clinical work, Allen is a seasoned educator and trainer, having designed and led blended, hybrid, and in-person learning programs for prosthetics and rehabilitation professionals globally. His training approach is inclusive, practical, and deeply respectful of local expertise — strengthening capacity rather than imposing models.

Over the past decade, Allen has also led and supported disability and rehabilitation programs for humanitarian and development actors, working with governments, donors, and NGOs to improve access to assistive technology and strengthen rehabilitation systems in less-resourced settings.

Within Complexity Untangled, Allen supports the practice behind the scenes while continuing to lead his own technical and training work in prosthetics and rehabilitation. He brings a steady, systems-aware presence to complexity — one rooted in craft, care, and the realities of adaptation.
